Saying goodbye has never been easy for me. Anne Morrow Lindbergh once wrote about the “going away lump” she felt whenever she had to leave any place that she had made her home. Even though Faith Chapel UMC has been my shortest appointment – 16 months – in almost 40 years of ministry, it is hard to leave. I have that lump in my throat but feel so blessed to have had the honor and privilege of being your interim Senior Pastor. I’m so glad that God brought us together in our faith journeys.
You’ve included me in the high moments of your lives; you have entrusted and honored me in sharing some of the most difficult ones. Many of you have shown kindness and care and love in ways that you don’t realize. You’ve taught me lessons; you’ve held me up and prayed for me and Dick when we needed it. You’ve made me laugh, you’ve been my friend. Thank you for all of these blessings you’ve brought to both my life and my ministry as I served you here.
My prayer is that you will continue to love and support Pastor Jason and his family in his new role as your Lead Pastor. May the love and grace of our Lord Jesus Christ surround and bless you now and always. You have left footprints on my heart and I will never, ever be the same.
Let the children come,
