“Just as our bodies have many parts and each part has a special function, so it is with Christ’s body. We are many parts of one body, and we all belong to each other.”Romans 12:4-5 (NLT)
Devotional submitted by Janice Shaffer
We don’t always realize what we are enjoying until we no longer have that something available. I don’t know about you, but I have always taken for granted that I would be able to attend church, visit with friends and celebrate with family. I certainly didn’t stop to think very often about what role each of those things or people played in my life.
Through these days of “helplessness,” I have had time to think about how social distancing affects me. As I read this verse, so many pictures went through my mind. As I thought of each person, I stopped to realize what a different role each one plays in my life. We ARE one body, and each person lends their special something to everyone to whom they reach out. Think about your friends and family. How would your life be different without just one of them?
That’s what Christ sees when he looks at us. Each unique and playing their special part. There is nothing insignificant. All is as important as the other.
Give thanks today for the people who add so much to your life and to the Father for his wise design of many different parts of the body of Christ.
