Some Things Never Change… and some things really do.
There is a song in Frozen 2 called Some Things Never Change. It starts out talking about seasons changing and that there are some things that never change… If you have seen the movie then you know that most of the things that they’re saying never change ultimately come into question. Olaf melts, the dam is broken, Kristoff questions Anna’s feelings, and Arendelle’s future is uncertain when Elsa wakes the voice from the enchanted forest.
I don’t know about you, but I feel like everything has been changing lately. The things that I thought were secure six months ago have all been called into question during this pandemic. I have been feeling like there is nothing that never changes, but that isn’t really true.
Anna tells Olaf later in the movie that she was still holding his hand—even though it seemed, at that point, everything had changed, and even when he flurried, she still held his hands.
As we continue to go through this season of life, I have been trying to focus on the things that really never change. God is still here holding my hand, walking alongside me in the chaos. And because of that, I can go on and do the next right thing because I know that in all things he will work for the good of those who love him, who are called according to his purposes.
We don’t need to worry about all of the things that are changing, because it really is true that some things never change.
